Punkri Burwadih is a burial tomb of the tribal people but the monument displays astronomical connotations. Punkri Barwadih, originally discovered by the megalith explorer and author Subhasis Das some 15-16 years ago. Punkri Burwadih is a wonder…not only because it is a wonderful megalithic site but because it is a megalith which reveals the ancients’ precise understanding of horizon astronomy and also of the transits of the sun. It is the only place in the country for viewing of equinox sunrises.
